I was just wondering... As most people know, Pantera spilt up quite some time ago, and I only wanted to ask: Does anyone miss them? Personally, I don't think "Reinventing The Steel" was a bad album at all... I would've loved to hear more from them, but then again, I guess it's impossible, with the relationship between Phil and the rest of the band...
Anyhow, I say again: Does anyone miss Pantera?

i miss 'em, i miss 'em even more now that Damageplan's album has been released. I don't understand how Vinnie and Dime could go from an unbelievably good band like Pantera to making really dodgy, angsty crud...

Well, as I said: The Pantera guys and Phil weren't talking anymore, so I guess the band is history for good. If my memory serves me right, Phil became too addicted to drugs and nuts, and the rest of the band didn't put up with that. It's a shame such a great band should go down in such a manner...

I dunno....personally, think there's a lot of good metal these days to more than make up for Pantera...but still....

ok, its obvious wat im going to say (looking at my name, and my deviantart). Their last album wasnt worthy of being their last.
But they still had it ie. "Immortally Insane"...great song.
Listening to damageplan tho...Dimebag has evolved too much, like Metallica....he sounds all modern and crap (with a few exceptions like "Crawl")
Phil still rocks \m/
ps. Pantera is more thrash metal than heavy (take phil's grunty voice out of the music and ull see what i mean)

well... yeah, kinda... at least the old is. I'd say that after "Cowboys From Hell" they sound like a hybrid. We got those f**kfast songs "f**king Hostile" and "Strength beyond Strength" but "This Love" and "Drag The Waters" as well.
Well well... MY opinion. I'm not saying you're completely wrong, I just don't agreee TOTALLY.

If they would have continued as a band, I think another album from them would have been horrible. I don't think they could work as a band anymore, and I think reinventing the steel was a good sign of that. While it has its moments, the album is still mediocre at best.

I dont reaaally miss them... i mean, yeah, its a huge loss to the metal community as a whole, but there are far better bands out there, IMO. i'm not much of a thrash fan though. I'm classical (Death, Obituary)

I don't miss them but I'm still listening to the old ones, Vulgar and Cowboys etc etc.
But still I really didn't like the reinventing the steel one.
So I think that maybe it is best that they separated.
Another album like the steel would have been a massacre of talent.

*cries* How is pantera in the heavy metal subforum?... they were thrash... but back to the topic: I don't like them, they stole material from less-known bands, and their only halfway good album was cowboys from hell anyway. But that's just my opinion
